Our Deep Fry Friday series continues as we review another under $35, 5 quart deep fryer.
We tried to get a little more creative this week with recipes and ideas.
Mr Dog Poop tries fried ham sandwiches that are rolled Swiss cheese and ham dipped in a flour batter and covered in seasoned bread crumbs then deep fried.
That turned out to be a great idea and was a big hit.
Jeff Macoroni thinks he can cover cheese cubes in mashed potatoes and deep fry them into something solid. WRONG! It comes out like mush.
Other items include chicken fried steak cubes, chicken fried pork, a sandwich on a Hawaiian roll battered and fried, Hooters brand chicken wing mix and hush puppies.
The best thing was the Hush Puppies made from a mix by just adding water. The flavor was great, they cooked nicely and had a restaurant feel.
The Ovente deep fryer was very nice, easy clean up and more than powerful enough to keep going for more than an hour non stop.
Plans to continue with deep fry Friday take us into next week when we have a pot that is self contained and can be used as a deep fryer, or cooking pot for other meals.
